There’s no sandflies
On a warm and sunny bayside morn
Drum Major’s little baby child is born
He’s a no show
And the band guys sigh
Cause if there’s one thing that they don’t need
It’s another pumped up suit to lead
In the street march
Players got to understand
He’s not here to lead the band
Cos he’s got to be a new dad again today
Take a look up front and see
Where he is meant to be
Greg’s up there with the stick so we must be on our way
Now the ranks form
With our eyes to the centre and so the lines close
Eyes to the right and our shoe shine glows
In the street march
And the whistle blows
So we start up on the street alright
And we’ve got to play and get the transition tight
On the halt line
Then on stage with preparation
And Richard is away
We sang the hymn
Claimed the Test
Stamped the March
You can guess the rest
And BB Two fly
As a crowd gathers round a happy young band
A Grade third on stage to the best in the land
Won the Street March
And as the young band smile
Better than with Josh and too with Jon
They’ve won an outing, it’s been such a while
In the contest
Must be the blue ties
Apologies to Mac Davis and the Estate of Elvis Presley
